Dear Professor ___________, I hope you had a nice summer! I am _______, the a coordinator for Power Vote with [GROUP], the student [environmental group, social justice group, etc] on campus. I wanted to quickly fill you in on our big fall campaign and also to see if you would be willing to allow us to make a brief 5 minute presentation in your class this semester. This semester, we are running a project called Power Vote, a non-partisan effort to get XXX students to pledge to vote on campus. Young people have a huge opportunity to shape the key issues in this election, and the best way to do that is to get out and vote. Our campaign, Power Vote, asks students to vote to create a clean energy economy that can create thousands of new jobs, make America energy independent, and fight global warming. In particular, we’ve found that educating students about the election and asking them to pledge to vote is one of the best ways to inform students of ways that they can be involved and boost youth voting. I was wondering if we would be able to do two short presentations in your class(es)- the first to recruit and plug them into Power Vote, and later to remind them to vote. It should take just 5 minutes to do so. Would you be willing to let us pledge voters in your class? If so, thank you very much! Please just let me know the date, time, and location of the class(es) you’d like us to visit. It would also be very helpful to know the size of the class, so that we’re sure to bring enough registration forms. I’ll be sure to follow up with a confirmation that we’re coming. I will give you a call to follow up on this in a day or so, and I can be reached at ________ or __@___. Thank you very much, and I look forward to speaking with you soon!
