A broken down biodiesel bus will not stop Power Vote from taking our call for clean and just energy to the debates!

Very early yesterday morning one of Energy Action's founders, Kassie Rohrbach, and I began our 22 day tour of the Presidential and Vice Presidential debates. Our first day was filled with adventure, good people, a compost toilet, threats of a debate delay, and a massive shortage of gas in Western North Carolina. Check out the YouTube video soon!

We picked up the fabulous Jodie Van Horn in Charlotte and headed to pick up our WINDMILLS!!! We drove up the winding roads of the Pigsah National Forest near Asheville to a small community. In less than two weeks Matt, a wonderful artist and activist, designed and built 30 beautiful 9 foot windmills for our tour. They look better than I ever could have imagined.

Between that and getting Senator Biden on camera denouncing so-called Clean Coal, Power Vote is getting the word out... WE WANT GREEN JOBS NOT MORE COAL!

At today’s Clinton Global Initiative, Al Gore said for the first time in public that we are at a point in our world’s history, and in need of such immediate action, that if you are a young person it’s time for civil disobedience.

In particular to bring coal plants to a halt.

In just a few short hours Kassie and I will embark on a wild adventure to infuse clean energy conversation into the debates. And we want you to join us!!!

The lovely people at Green Owl Records donated their huge biodiesel/ veggie school bus for us to take on tour of the debates.

Media Media Media! There is nothing more powerful than our Powervote message on the cover of over 60,000 “b” free dailies sitting all over Baltimore City and County. In the last week,Towson Energy Activists have pulled together one of the strongest media teams I have seen and been a part of!

I just spent the last hour sorting through a bunch of GREAT photos you all have taken to document Power Vote magic. They are so great. Pictures of young moms and their kids with Power Vote stickers; people getting trained in MN; high school students signing up in New Mexico; Power Voters partying down in New York; rallying in Michigan; and on and on and on.

This is turning out to be a fun and crazy week here at Power Vote HQ. The hype around the events this weekend is filling an almost tangible balloon about to explode! I have no idea what that means, but the visual is fun.

If you're like me you're scared about rising unemployment, a looming recession, and massive layoffs.

But, it doesn't have to be like this. By investing in a clean energy economy we can create at least 5 million good, green jobs. By investing in green job training programs, solar installations, and making homes more efficient, we can fight poverty and pollution at the same time.
